Research Fellow in Deep-marine Sedimentology and Stratigraphy

Job Description

Are you an ambitious geoscience researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in deep-water sedimentology and stratigraphy with an interest in fieldwork?

A position is available for an outstanding sedimentologist/stratigrapher to join the Stratigraphy Group, a large international research group based at the University of Leeds, as Research Fellow in Deep-marine Sedimentology and Stratigraphy. You will take on a leading role on the exciting Jurassic SHARQ research programme, which aims to apply recent advances in understanding of sediment gravity flow processes to improve understanding of syn-rift deep-marine successions. The research programme, which is led by Professor David Hodgson (Leeds), Professor Jeff Peakall, Dr Ian Kane (Manchester) and Dr Miquel Poyatos-Moré (Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona), will seek to integrate fieldwork in East Greenland and the analysis of subsurface systems from the Jurassic North Sea.

You should have a PhD in geoscience, with skills in, or willingness to learn, deep-marine sedimentary processes and stratigraphic successions.

You will be comfortable leading and integrating key aspects of the programme, and be willing to contribute to and support a diverse and international research team. The post is based at the University of Leeds, UK.
