Postdoctoral Associate- Immunology, T Cells, GVHD, Bone Marrow Transplantation

The laboratory of Dr. Pavan Reddy in the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Associate who will work on independent and collaborative projects, and who will contribute to the vibrant and team-oriented laboratory environment.

Dr. Reddy's research focuses on understanding the role of immune cells in blood diseases, cancer and transplantation, with a particular interest for the immunobiology of T-cells and immune responses in Graft vs. Host Disease (GvHD), a pathology that can occur after allogeneic hematopoietic transplantation. His lab utilizes several mouse transplant models including those relevant to GvHD (S.W. Choi et al., Blood, 2015; N.D. Mathewson et al., Nat. Immunol., 2015; H. Fujiwara et al., Nat. Immunol., 2021). The candidate will have the opportunity of participating in mouse bone marrow transplantation experiments and applying advanced technologies such as NGS (RNA-seq, single-cell sequencing).

The candidate is expected to take ownership of their research project, design and perform biological experiments with rigor, be highly organized and communicative, and maintain a strong work ethic. We especially welcome applicants who are recent graduates and are interested in pursuing an independent academic career.

Job Duties

・Designs, optimizes, and executes research experiments to answer questions related to research projects.

・Responsible for experimental design, analysis of resulting data, and interpreting data independently (with guidance from the PI or other lab members).

・Works collaboratively with other lab members, senior researchers, and faculty members at the departmental or inter-institutional levels.

・Manages time and multiple projects efficiently while prioritizing deadlines and projects.

・Assists PI in training and mentoring research staff, as well as undergraduate and graduate students as appropriate.

・Communicates their findings with other scientists at local, national, and international scientific conferences.

・Presents and prepared data into figures, written project updates, oral presentations (including lab meetings, journal clubs) to support manuscript writing for publication and grant proposals.

Minimum Qualifications

・MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.

・No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

・Ph.D. and/or M.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or Immunology.

・Strong background in molecular biology, cellular biology, biochemistry, or cancer biology.

・Previous experience with CRISPR technology and/or CRISPR screens.

・Willing to work with and/or handle mice.

・Good interpersonal and communication skills.

・Strong publication record (at least one peer reviewed first-author research article) and experience presenting at national or international meetings.
