Description

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Soft Matter Photonics and Dynamic Optics and Photonics research groups at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and is fixed-term until 30th September 2025 with possible further extension subjet to confirmed additinal funding.

This project involves the development of a new technology that would enable the spatio-temporal coherence characteristics of a laser source to be varied in a controlled and programmable way. You will be responsible for the development of the underpinning technology, which will include the assessment, screening and selection of a suitable methodology for coherence control using soft-functional materials as well as the optimisation of the materials and device architecture. You will also be required to develop numerical simulation tools to model the devices.

You should possess a PhD/DPhil (or near completion) in Optoelectronic Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or a related discipline.
