Job Description

Summary

The Patras Lab at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to assist with funded research projects focusing on host-microbe interactions of the urogenital tract. The Patras Lab studies host and bacterial factors, including urogenital pathogens and the vaginal microbiota, in the context of urinary tract infection, maternal-neonatal health, and bacterial pathogenesis. Research activities will include molecular microbiology, tissue and organoid culture, RNA-sequencing, microbiome analyses, and experimental studies in mice.

Job Duties

・Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.

・Conducts laboratory procedures: molecular microbiology, tissue culture experiments, and mouse procedures.

・Collects, compiles, and analyzes data.

・Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.

・Documents methods and results of experiments to ensure that work can be replicated by others.

・Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.

・Writes manuscript to report the findings.

・Attends department seminar and other scientific events.

Minimum Qualifications

・MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.

・No experience required.
