Postdoctoral Fellow in Liver Metabolism

A postdoctoral fellow position is now available in the laboratory of Dr. Ling Yang in the Department of Medical Genetics and Molecular Biochemistry at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. The Lewis Katz School of Medicine located at Philadelphia, is one of the top medical schools in the United States. And the greater Philadelphia area is one of the major hubs for global pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, GSK and Johnson & Johnson. The Yang laboratory is interested in the identification of novel regulators such as long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and circular RNAs in the pathogenesis of liver and liver-related diseases. The ultimate goal is to develop novel therapeutics such as RNA therapy to treat human diseases including but not limited to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), hepatocellular carcinoma, and atherosclerosis. Dr. Ling Yang published her work in top journals such as Cell Metabolism, Cell Reports, and Journal of Hepatology. Dr. Ling Yang received multiple Awards in recent years including the NHLBI director Award, the NHLBI Orloff Science Award, the NHLBI K22 Career transition Award, the Young Investigator Award from NIH Asian and Pacific Islander American Organization (APAO), and the DOD Discovery Award. We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated and collaborative postdoctoral fellow with a strong passion for science to join our laboratory. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently, have a strong background and experience in molecular/cellular biology. The project will use mice and in vitro cultured hepatocytes with the following techniques: gene cloning, western blot, RT-PCR, immunoprecipitation, reporter assay, RNA-seq, etc. Prior experience with lncRNA is not required. The Yang laboratory always promotes the professional development of postdoctoral fellows. You will be encouraged and supported to apply for fellowships, present in scientific meetings, as well as write and publish manuscripts. The position is well funded and renewable for up to 5 years. Salary and fringe benefits will be competitive and offered based on experiences, the appropriate NIH scale, and the university policy.
