Postdoctoral Position in Translational HIV-1 Research

A Postdoctoral Scientist position in translational Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) research is immediately available in the laboratory of Teresa H. Evering, M.D, M.S., at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Evering is interested in the pathogenesis of HIV-1 associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND), the identification and characterization of novel therapeutics to combat deleterious effects of HIV-1 in the central nervous system (CNS), and the phylodynamics of HIV-1 in the CNS. The post-doctoral fellow will work on NIH-funded studies involving the transcriptional profiling and functional study of directly induced neurons (iNs) to determine neuronal-associated gene-expression pathways modulated by factors including neurocognitive impairment, age, and combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). We seek an organized, enthusiastic candidate, who will work both independently and with a vibrant and international collaborative group of virologists, cell biologists, and immunologists and in direct interaction/collaboration with researchers with expertise in Stem cell technologies at the SKI Stem Cell Research Facility at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Job Requirements

We seek a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. and/or M.D., with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Research experience in cellular and molecular biology and immunology, with technical expertise in plasmid preparation, DNA & RNA extraction from cells, qPCR, cell culture, ELISA and flow cytometry is also required. Preferred: Experience with lentiviral vector generation and transduction and stem-cell technologies would be preferred. Omics data analysis/computer programming skills are welcome but not required.
