The Postdoctoral Associate position will study the function of DEAD-box RNA helicase. The focus of the lab is on prokaryotic RNA metabolism, with particular emphasis on the role of RNA helicases and ribonucleases. The individual should have experience with working in RNA-related projects or using E.coli as a model organism. The individual will carry out benchtop research to define the function of E.coli RNA helicases, particularly SrmB and DeaD. Identifies RNA molecules that helicases interact with inside the cell. Evaluating the consequences of these interactions on the turnover of associated RNAs inside the cell. Assists in the supervision of junior scientific personnel such as undergraduate and graduate students.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related field. Prior experience related to the function of DEAD-box RNA helicase is beneficial. An appropriate combination of education, certifications, and/or relevant work experience will be considered.
