The Maurer group at Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a postdoctoral research associate in the area of bacterial ion channels. Our group is interested in the biochemical and electrophysiological characterization of a new family of bacterial ligand-gated ion channels. Preliminary characterization has shown that these channels gate in response to cAMP and exhibit a structural similarity to MscS. Preference will be given to candidates with significant planar lipid bilayer electrophysiology experience or bacterial ion channel patch clamp experience.
