The cyclotron facility and radiochemistry technology center of the Crump Institute for Molecular Imaging and the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine seeks a postdoctoral radiochemist. The mission of radiochemistry group of Crump Institute is to develop a technology platform which is low-cost, versatile, flexible and easy-to-use to provide easy access of desired Positron Emission Tomography (PET) probes on-demand. We envision such devices can overcome the technical barriers of radiochemical syntheses for researchers who want to apply PET to study biological processes. Our approach is to perform a variety of chemical reactions and PET radiotracer syntheses using microfluidic platforms and related hybrid system. The postdoc candidate will conduct research in synthetic radiochemistry, PET probe design and radiolabeling of biomolecules for micro-PET studies.

The candidate will have the opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team, specialized in protein engineering, microfluidics, instrument design, proteomics, imaging science, immunology, and preclinical animal work. The candidate will also participate in the routine production of F-18 radiolabeled compounds using a state-of-the-art remote controlled radiosynthesis system as well as custom-made, miniature, microreactor systems. The candidate will involve in assisting microfluidic chip design for radiolabeling as well. Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. in organic chemistry or radiochemistry. A strong background in organic synthesis is preferred. Experience in PET radiochemistry, esp. F-18 would be desirable, but is not required. In addition, experience using various analytical techniques including HPLC, NMR, GC-/LC-MS, and solid-phase extraction will be a plus.
