A vacancy exists for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to participate in a study designed to investigate the mechanism of action of monoclonal antibodies for clinical therapy. This position is funded by the Scottish Translational Medicine Research Consortium, and is initially available for 18 months. Candidates must have a PhD in immunology, cell biology, or a related field, and an interest in translational research.
The goal of this research proposal is to study mechanisms of action of B-cell depleting monoclonal antibodies, using in vitro cellular immunology techniques. The aim of this project is to investigate the effector mechanisms of B-cell depletion using monoclonal antibodies, and to identify biomarkers which can be used to predict patient responses in vivo. This project involves the development and implementation of relevant immunological methods, such as lymphocyte proliferation assays, cell-mediated cytotoxicity, flow cytometry, and cytokine analyses, and previous experience of these is highly desirable.
